More I-275 Construction that Directly Affects the Trail

Wish we did not have to pass this information along, but it is what it is.  The trail from Van Born Rd to I-94 is closing next week.  Yes, the trail just officially opened a few weeks ago, but now the highway construction is causing it to temporarily close.  This section of the trail will be closed until November 1.

The trail crossover at Van Born Rd is involved in the I-275 bridge work over the road.  As part of the bridge construction, the trail on Van Born will be rebuilt.  Ecorse Rd itself is under construction from I-275 to Haggerty Rd.  Since the metro trail crosses Ecorse Rd directly, the crossing is in the middle of the construction and not usable.

There will be detour signs directing you between Van Born Rd and Huron River Dr.  Please follow the signs since the Hannan Rd bridge over I-275 is closed for the next month.

Small bit of good news is that the trail between Ford Rd and Koppernick Rd is still on target to reopen mid-August.  Completion of the bridge work over the connector to Lower Rouge River Trail is on schedule for a November completion.
