  1. The work done on the bike trail is incredible. Can you tell me with all the improvements to access points like Koppernick Road, Ford Road, and Michigan Avenue, the Cherry Hill Road access point was ignored? What would be nice would be for the access point to come all the way out to the intersection of Lotz road and Cherry Hill which would mean no more accessing through the apartment complex there. An even better scenario would be to continue a little farther down Chrerry Hill to connect to the existing sidewalk there so riders wouldn’t have to ride on very busy Cherrry Hill to get to the trail.

    • So glad that you like the trail. We do appreciate the work that MDOT has done to make it possible. The question you raise about the Cherry Hill access point has been raised by other trail users too.
None of the original access points along the trail have been refurbished. That includes Cherry Hill, 5 Mi and Haggerty Rd at the north end of the trail. These access points take in multiple government levels; township or city and county. They are not on MDOT property, whereas Ford Rd and Michigan Ave are. (The trail crosses Koppernick Rd and there is no additional access point there.) These old access points are not being ignored, but there is no immediate solution.
We will be sure to keep this updated with information when known, as there are many people asking the same question.

  2. I have been looking at your maps and information about the 275 trail and I noticed that it is open as far south as Hannan Rd under I-94 but the trail south of that point has not been refurbished. Do you know when this portion of the trail will be worked on?
Especially the Monroe county part of the trail. It would be nice to have some place safe in this county to ride bikes on because the roads are horrible with them being narrow and full of pot holes.
Thank you for any information you can give on this subject.

    • At this time, plans will refurbish the trail to the Metro Park connector. The bridges are in and MDOT has the repaving in their plans. Any refurbishing of the trail south of there, including Monroe County are currently in the talking phase only. We will post updates here when there are any changes to that status.
It is University MDOT that would have responsibility for the Monroe county section of the trail. You might want to contact them with your interest in the trail. Every bit of communication helps the cause.
Our goal is to get the trail redone to connect to the Sterling State Park trail.

  3. I see in the Mi Ride Calender that there is a ride scheduled on 6/9 on the trail. Where do I go to sign up for this event?

    • We had to cancel the ride because of the I-275 bridge construction between I-94 and 6 Mi. There were too many unknowns at the time for us to plan the ride.

  4. Hello, I’m anxiously awaiting the repaving of the section from Hannan Road to the Eureka Road. Are there any updates on when they will begin work on that section.

    • MDOT is currently working on finding funds to complete the trail from Hannan Rd to the white gate that joins to the metro park trail. We are hoping this will be accomplished in the next few years. As soon as we get updates from MDOT, we will publish it.

  5. When are they going to continue work on the path, south of I-94. The path is fixed up to 94, but beyond that some bridges have been replaced but nothing done to the trail.

    • MDOT had funding to replace the bridges, but not enough to complete the trail. They are currently working on and are getting closer to securing money to finish the next 6 miles south of I-94. They already have funding to fix the railroad tracks on Northline Rd. We are hoping if all continues to move as it has to see construction start sometime next year. There are no plans in the near future to go any further south once this stretch is complete.
